The private Claude Library

Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 2026

ClaudeVault uses your data only to provide its library and export features — nothing else.

ClaudeVault does not sell, share, or transfer your data to any third party.

ClaudeVault does not use your data for advertising or any purpose unrelated to its features.

No human at ClaudeVault reads your conversation data. No one can — it never leaves your device.

What ClaudeVault stores

ClaudeVault stores the following information on your device using your browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local):

— The names and colors of Libraries you create
— Which conversations you have assigned to each Library
— Conversation titles, as they appear in the Claude.ai sidebar
— Conversation URLs in the format https://claude.ai/chat/...
— The date each conversation was first saved to ClaudeVault

This data is stored only on your device. It is never sent to any server, never synced to the cloud, and never accessible to anyone other than you.

What ClaudeVault does not read

ClaudeVault reads conversation titles only — the text that appears in the Claude.ai sidebar list. It does not open conversations, read message content, or access anything beyond what is visible in the sidebar.

ClaudeVault does not collect your name, email address, Claude account information, or any personal identity. It has no analytics, no usage tracking, and no crash reporting.

No servers, no cloud, no accounts

ClaudeVault has no backend server. There is no database storing your data. There is no account to create or sign in to. ClaudeVault is a browser extension that operates entirely on your device.

The extension makes no outbound network requests during normal use or during export.

Exports

When you export a Library, ClaudeVault reads your locally stored data, generates a Markdown or JSON file on your device, and saves it to your Downloads folder using your browser's built-in download system. Nothing is uploaded or transmitted during this process. The file is created and saved entirely on your device.

When you uninstall ClaudeVault

When you uninstall ClaudeVault, Chrome removes the extension's local storage associated with ClaudeVault from your browser.

Why Chrome shows a permissions prompt

ClaudeVault requests the following permissions. Each one has a specific, limited purpose:

Permission Why it is needed
storage To save your Libraries, folder assignments, and conversation list in your browser's local storage on your device.
activeTab To detect that you are on a Claude.ai page so the sidebar can be shown.
scripting To inject the ClaudeVault sidebar panel into Claude.ai pages.
downloads To save exported Library files (Markdown or JSON) to your Downloads folder when you choose to export.
claude.ai ClaudeVault only operates on claude.ai pages. It does not run on any other website.

Limited use commitment

ClaudeVault's use of any information accessed through Chrome permissions is limited to the following:

— Providing and improving ClaudeVault's library organisation and export features
— Nothing else

ClaudeVault does not use your data to develop, improve, or train any AI model. ClaudeVault does not sell your data. ClaudeVault does not transfer your data to any third party for any purpose. ClaudeVault does not use your data for advertising.

Independence

ClaudeVault is an independent browser extension and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Anthropic or Claude.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a material way, the updated date at the top of this page will change and the Chrome Web Store listing will be updated. ClaudeVault will not introduce data collection, server communication, or third-party sharing without clearly disclosing it.
